This 2 credit clinical course was developed for social work and other clinical professionals. It examines issues related to the changing legal status of the drug, which has caused confusion for many of us who have been working with clients who are smoking. In this webinar, Campbell and Coleman  discuss the latest information on health, economic issues, criminal justice and treatment that you need to know in order to work with your clients effectively.
Learning objectives:
Participants will be able to:

  • list two physiological effects and two cognitive effects of the drug
  • list two screening methods for Cannabis Use Disorder
  • describe the compromised legal status of the drug
  • describe two medical benefits of medical marijuana use

Target audience: Social workers and other clinical professionals who work with clients with Substance Use Disorders.

About the authors/instructors:

Ruth Campbell, LCSW, Ph.D.  is currently in private practice in New York City and in upstate NY. She is the Continuing Education Director of the non-profit organization Best Practice Trainers, Inc., which has a research and training mission. She has 40 years’ experience working in mental health settings as a clinician, teacher, and author, and 14 years’ experience in direct practice with Substance Use Disorders.
Richard Coleman, LMSW is currently practicing with Connections Counseling PLLC in upstate New York. He has had over 50 years in psychotherapy practice and over 20 years with direct practice with Substance Use Disorders. Both are a dynamic and engaging speakers.

Course completion requirements

To earn CE credit, participants must attend the entire course as determined by check-in with the instructor, complete a posttest with at least 75% accuracy and an online course evaluation. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 10 business days of course completion.
