Motivational Interviewing: An Introduction to the Basics – March 7 – $30

LIVE webinar presented by Tina Iler, LCSWR – 2 CEs on Saturday, March 7 from 10 am to noon. This two-hour beginner level LIVE webinar for social work and other clinical professionals introduces the fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing (MI), a collaborative client centered approach that strengthens a person’s own motivation and commitment to change. Participants will learn: the Spirit of MI, the foundational processes of MI, the core OARS + I skills (open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, summarizing and information-exchange), ways to identify and elicit change talk, as well as strategies for managing discord or client “resistance”.  Bibliography for course is available during the live presentation. Cannabis – March 14 – $30

LIVE webinar presented by Ruth Campbell, LCSW & Richard Coleman, LMSW – 2 CEs on Saturday, March 14, 2020. This 2 hour long beginning to intermediate level LIVE webinar for social work and other clinical professionals offers a closer look at Cannabis, legal status, treatment options, medical uses. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: list two physiological effects of cannabis, describe two plant-derived varieties of cannabis by psychoactive properties, describe one symptom of moderate-severe Cannabis Use Disorder,  list one assessment instrument for Cannabis Use Disorder, and describe two medical conditions for which cannabis is prescribed as medicine. Assessing Immigrant Survivors of IPV-DV (VAWA)-March 21 -$30

LIVE webinar presented by George Ramos, LMHC, Ph.D. – 2 CEs at 10 am – noon on Saturday, March 21. This 2 hour-long, beginning to intermediate level, LIVE webinar is a primer for social work and mental health professionals who are assessing immigrants who have been/are victims of Interpersonal Violence or Domestic Violence and are applying for a Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) waiver. Participants will be able to: list 2 reasons why a mental health clinician might be asked to perform an evaluation of an immigrant who is enduring IPV or DV, list assessment tools that may help a clinician understand the immigrant’s experience, list 2 ways in which such an assessment may become a path to citizenship for such a person. To earn CE credit, participants must log in, complete a pretest, attend the entire course as determined electronically. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 10 business days of course completion. Course credit through any organization cannot be given retroactively. No partial credit can be given for any partially completed course.

NYS Clinicians: Best Practice Trainers, Inc is recognized by the NY State Department of Education  as a CE provider for NYS social workers (#SW-0519) and LMHCs (#MHC-0124) and has provider level approval to offer CEs to those NYS clinicians for these courses.   Registrants should note that only 1/3 of contact hours needed  for NY LCSWs and LMSWs can come from non-interactive web coursework.
