Behavioral Couples Therapy in the Management of Substance Use Disorders
2.25 CEs | $39.50 | Dr. Afua Forson
In this course, Dr. Forson discusses Behavioral Couples Therapy as an effective evidence based model which promotes abstinence within the context of the couple relationship. The ultimate goal of this seminar is to educate the practitioner on how to effectively implement the systemic approach of BCT in the clinical setting.
This is a two-and-a quarter-hour long beginning to intermediate level, online, self-study, recorded webinar created in November, 2022, for marriage and family counselors, CASACs, social workers and other clinical professionals.
Participants will be able to:
- describe the role of the therapist using BCT
- describe three target populations with which BCT is effective
- describe relative and absolute contraindications to the use of BCT with couples
- list four therapeutic tasks associated with the use of BCT
- describe one benefit and one challenge to implementing BCT in clinical practice
