Richard Coleman, LMSW

Richard Coleman: When you call Best Practice Trainers, you may hear Richard’s voice since he is currently behind the scenes in the BPTI research campaign.  He says of himself, “I completed the online MSW program with Boston University, and have earned my LMSW. To my social work practice, I bring a broad background and training in psychology and in research methods, having graduated from New York University in psychology with a focus on research.  I have worked in the addictions field as a counselor for 22 years, I was approved by the NYS Office of Substance Abuse Services as a trainer in 2010. As a contributor to BPTI, I helped BPTI develop and present the Essentials trainings (Essential Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Substance Use Disorders, Essential Motivational Interviewing for Substance Use Disorders, and Essential Co-occurring Disorders for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder treatment) in New York City in 2012. I have co-designed and co-led two webinars on Cannabis and on Couple’s Work in the past two years. “

Because alcoholism and drug addiction are life-threatening disorders, the clinicians who work with people with substance use disorders (SUDs) should be given the best tools with which to operate.” Richard Coleman
