Instructor: Tina Iler, LCSWR
Tina is in private and agency practice in the mid-Hudson region of New York State. She is the Social Work consultant for the BPTI Continuing Education group and the BPTI contact person for continuing education in New Jersey. She states, ” I have had over 25 years experience in direct practice with clients with mental health and substance use disorders.  I am passionate about Motivational Interviewing and train extensively in MI.”  As a trainer, she has had testimonials to her resourcefulness, dynamism and creativity.
She has created and presented the Motivational Interviewing webinars on Effective Engagement and Change Talk  (now available in the library of Self-Study Courses ) over the last two years. She has been the therapist in the clinical vignettes which are an integral part of the online Motivational Interviewing course and the Co-occurring Disorders courses.  Tina has been approved as an instructor by BPTI, by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports, by the New York State Education Department and meets ASWB criteria for instructors. She is currently a member of the BPTI Continuing Education Advisory Committee. 

Instructor: Lynne Rachlin, LCSW
Lynne“I have worked as a full-time social worker in the mental health unit of Sullivan County Department of Community Services in upstate New York for over twenty years. During that time, I have worked with couples, families, and addictions. I’ve provided individual, family and group therapy, addictions treatment, crisis intervention, and case management at Social Worker II level. Member of Dual recovery (MICA) Planning Committee. I am a member of the Dual recovery (MICA) Planning Committee.” Lynne has been approved as an instructor by BPTI, by the New York State Education Department and meets ASWB criteria for instructors. She is currently a member of the BPTI Continuing Education Advisory Committee. 

Instructor: Richard Coleman, LMSW
Richard“Because alcoholism and drug addiction are life-threatening disorders, the clinicians who work with people with substance use disorders (SUDs) should be given the best tools with which to operate.

When you call Best Practice Trainers, you may hear Richard’s voice since he is currently  behind the scenes in the BPTI research campaign.  He says of himself,I recently have gained my LMSW after graduating from Boston University’s MSW program. I have a broad background and training in psychology and in research methods, having graduated from New York University in psychology with a focus on research.  I have worked in the addictions field as a counselor for 20 years, and am now retired from the Department of Community Services of Sullivan County.
I was approved by the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports as a trainer in 2010, and helped BPTI present the Youth at Risk training in NYC in 2010. I helped develop the Cognitive Behavioral materials for the current Essentials Training.” He is currently a member of the Continuing Education Advisory Committee.
Instructor: Timothy Campbell, Ph.D.

Tim held the position of Treasurer of BPTI from 2014 – 2016. He is currently working on a post-doc at the Institute for Futures Studies. He has created the Ethics for the Counseling Professions course for BPTI and will be doing research on the data collected from that study. He was approved by the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports as a trainer in 2010, and helped BPTI present the Youth at Risk training in Sullivan and Ulster counties in 2010. Tim has been approved as an instructor by BPTI, by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports, and meets ASWB criteria for instructors. He is currently a member of the BPTI Continuing Education Advisory Committee. He speaks of his current interests: “I am currently exploring the implications of different views of personal identity for population ethics, focusing especially on normative questions relating to future generations.”

Instructor: George Ramos, LMHC, Ph.D.
George is teaching at Nyack College after having 13 years of full-time agency (Administration for Children’s Services) and private practice as an LMHC and getting his Ph.D.  from Cumberlands University. He states, “My participation in Best Practice Trainers, Inc. has been ongoing since we presented live workshops on CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Co-Occurring Disorders in New York City in 2013. I am very interested in the topic of support for Mental Health clinicians. I’ve helped design the pretest and posttest questions for the trainings to reflect my interest. I’ve also designed and presented webinars on In-Home Mental Health Care, and on Mental Health evaluations for immigrants (now available in the library of Recorded Webinars) in the past year. ” George has been approved as an instructor by BPTI, by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports, by the New York State Education Department and meets ASWB criteria for instructors. He is currently a member of the BPTI Continuing Education Advisory Committee. 

Instructor: Ruth Campbell, LCSW, Ph.D.
Ruth  has 40 years’ experience working in mental health settings as a clinician, teacher, and author, and 14 years’ experience in direct practice with Substance Use Disorders. She is currently in private practice in New York City and in upstate NY.  She says, “When I was beginning as a therapist, there were few resources to help train clinical skills. I’m hoping that our courses model skills that can be used by counselors to improve their practice.” She has helped design and create the online CBT, MI, COD and Ethics courses and two webinars on Couples’ Work and Cannabis (now available in the library of Recorded Webinars). Ruth has been approved as an instructor by BPTI, by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports, by the New York State Education Department and meets ASWB criteria for instructors.  She is currently the Secretary of the organization and the Continuing Education Director.
