In this course, Campbell and Coleman discuss how trauma challenges clients’ abilities AND how an attachment perspective provides a new avenue of approach to trauma treatment which has proved hopeful and helpful for both clinicians and clients.
This is a two-hour long beginning to intermediate level, online, self-study, recorded webinar created in October, 2022, for social work and other clinical professionals.

- explain two categories of symptoms that characterize PTSD
- explain one characteristic that differentiates PTSD from complex PTSD
- list three attachment styles
- explain how improving attachment style can facilitate recovery from trauma

About the authors
Ruth Campbell, LCSW, Ph.D. and Richard Coleman, LMSW
Ruth Campbell, LCSW, Ph.D. and Richard Coleman, LMSW have private practices in the mid-Hudson Valley in New York. They each have over thirty years in practice, which includes extensive practice in the mental health and substance use disorder fields.
They often work together with couples; their couples work practice has been influenced by both Hendrix and Gottman. They have specialized in therapy with traumatized individuals, successfully using various techniques for desensitization and trauma work, and are exploring the enhancement of trauma work with the use of an attachment focus, influenced by Parnell.
Completion requirements
